Kids who eat healthy meals do better in school. Healthy, local and adequately funded school meals are an important part of improving student performance.
More state funding for NC grown foods is key.
North Carolina has the 7th largest school meal program in the country and agriculture is our state’s largest industry. By providing state funding for more North Carolina grown foods in schools, we could make a big difference for our farmers and for our local economies.
Feed NC kids with food from NC farmers.
Children and adolescents consume up to half of their daily calories at school. Let’s work together and make sure our NC farmers are providing the food our kids eat.
Join our coalition and support NC Farms for NC Kids as we promote NC-grown foods for our kids and give schools flexibility to provide meals to students who are unable to pay.
That keeps money in North Carolina, feeds our kids local food, and supports NC farmers.
